CAF Red Tail Project enthusiasts have been treated to some amazing photos and videos of the Project’s restored P-51C Mustang Tuskegee Airmen in recent years, but this is brand new and tops the “cool” chart. When the airplane was appearing at the Geneseo (NY) Air Show on July 8-10, 2010, professional photographer Pat St. Clair put together a 360-degree panorama shot of the Mustang’s cockpit as the pilot would see it and the surrounding countryside. There’s also a “fly-on-the-wall” view of the pilot seat and environs.
Click on the link below to enjoy a totally unique aspect of the airplane (it may initially load in black/white but will ultimately be in full color). Use your mouse (left click) or the controls in the lower left corner of the screen to look around the cockpit. You’ll get a new appreciation for the Tuskegee Airmen who courageously flew this fabulous airplane to fight a highly-motivated enemy using only their aviation skills - no computers in sight.
